With her penetrating gaze and sleek black muscle-toned body, this beautiful black dog was born to be an extremely agile bird-hunting dog. This is the first time I've done a completely black animal, which is a challenge. It gave me ample opportunity to play with my Prussian Blue, Tuscan Red, and Black Grape colored pencils to make a different kind of black as well as using Black itself. It's rendered in soft pencil strokes with the colors built on top of one another and I gave careful consideration to the sheen of Sheba's coat. I took a bit a artistic license and designed the lush leaves and branches of the garden behind her to match her green collar. Like her name implies, Sheba looks very regal.
